OK, a short, but sweet post before Christmas engulfs me…
I don’t know a lot about The Cardigans, but here’s what I do know:
1. They’re from Stockholm in Sweden.
2. Their first album was called Emmerdale, after Emmerdale Farm.
3. Like fellow Swedes Abba, they’ve got a way with internationally catchy pop tunes.
4. Nina Perrson’s is one of my favourite female vocalists. Her voice has a fragile sweetness, mixed with a slightly hungover quality, that completes the songs beautifully.
This acoustic Cardigans session was recorded for a show called, Live at Morning Becomes Eclectic on KCRW, a Los Angeles based radio station, back in 2004. The group were on a promotional tour of the U.S. and they performed six songs, opening with this version of ‘And Then You Kissed Me.’
